Rant On Music

*gasp* i know i'd never thought i'd see the day when i ranted on music but don't worry, it's not major.

i really hate how these days, anyone can be famous and there's no work put into their art. "ooo look at me i have a good voice so i'm gonna go on a TV talent show so i can earn easy cash and recording contract." NO that is NOT how it works. if anyone wants to earn it the right way, it takes dedication. you could go on a TV show, but after winning, you need to take a little break to perfect the art of singing. if you don't you'll flunk it because the industry's tough, not a reality TV show where scripts are made for your every second on screen.

also i don't like how songs like "Born To Quit" (by The Used) are shunned as "Emo" and "Violent" when the messages are better than most crappy mainstream #1 singles. Just using that song, let me give you an example: Born To Quit is about how everyone has their bad days but some people have it worse off wayyyy more than you do, so if you don't get the lead part in something, don't moan and wail because the world will go on without you and while everyone knows what's going on in the world, you're gonna take ages to try and catch up with what's happening.

"The Farther You Go, - as in the farther you go on moaning -
The Less You Know - as in you're gonna have to take time catching up with the world. -
You're Born To Quit - as in "this is the 1000th time this has happened and you still quit" -
You Need To Let Go Of Letting Go - as in "as soon as something minor happens, just let go of it and look for a new opportunity. you need to learn how to let go of letting go because it's a small thing. there's no point in going on and on."
You're full of Sh*t, You're born To Quit. "you whine too much over a little thing, LIFE LIVES ON!"

(personally i heard this song and i stopped whining in my head over something that happened recently than made me feel just plain "why her and not me?." i realised that there was no point: life lives on.)

what i just typed out, is the chorus for Born To Quit, as well as the meaning for the lines. now whereas that song has never been played on the radio because it's a little hardcore, and has actual meaning to it, we're letting our new generation listen to crap by Katy Perry or Taio Cruz with lyrics like "There's A Stranger In My Bed....I Smell Like A Mini-Bar" or "And I Can Drink Until I throw Up." one word "HOW?!" nothing is actually worth listening to these days (i mean mainstream stuff BTW) but there's that occasional good song that has meaning. like Lady Gaga's Born This Way.

i know that the music vid's gross and the lady herself had dome issues, but that song at least tells people to be who they are and not give a crap about what other people say. i know this guy, he's sort of my guy-friend, and he's been acting a little strange towards another boy. i think he could be a little bit gay for the other dude. it's fine with me but i dunno how the other guys will react. he does ballet which is fine with everybody but he's always been VERY feminine. (Luma knows some other crazy stuff that the guy did cuz i told her but for his sake i'm not mentioning it.) anyway moving on, that song taught everybody that it's fine to be who you are and that everyone can learn to live with it or not, and it actually went platinum. it's very rare to get a song like that these days. like i said before, it's all about false talent these days.

another thing i can't stand is music videos, because a few years back (and i mean just a few years) it was just about dancing and singing or even a live performance. but now it's about who can get the most wrong, and spend the most money for nothing. i wish we could just get back to the days where music was music and no-one said trash about other people's music tastes. now it just sucks.

i'm labelled as an emo because i love warmth but hates light, listen to a lot of rock and wears hoodies with dark colours. it sucks because i have anger management issues and when i moved into my suckish new class i cried LOT in class because i couldn't understand why i was here and why i was so angry. yeah i did get depressed for a week and the whole time i just listened to music to make me happy. REAL music, not the crap that's played on the radio. i listened to "The Used" to get the message across to me, Mindless Self Indulgence for humour and to make me smile again because the lyrics are ridiculous and My Chemical Romance to reflect. minus MSI, these bands have meaningful songs that are NEVER played on the radio. it's sad.

whew! this post is VERY long and i think i got all that out of my system so i might just leave it here ok? bye! ~Sound Virus~
